It's been 4 seasons since Moonton has run the Franchise League system for the top-class Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) tournament in the country. This system of course has advantages and disadvantages. One of them is the monotony of the MPL league because it is followed by the same teams.

On the other hand, the Mobile Legends Professional League franchise is arguably interesting because the slots owned by the team can be resold like an investment. As a result, there is a distribution of income from sponsors to broadcasting rights received by MPL Indonesia.

Seeing the success of MPL in Indonesia, it has attracted other countries to implement the same system. One of them is the Philippines. This was conveyed by Akosi Dogie as the coach of the Nexplay Esports team.
In a video, Akosi said that MPL PH Season 8 is now 100 percent franchise-based. According to him, the Philippines is ready to use a franchise-based system and Nexplay is ready to have a new roster.

Until now Moonton himself has not released information whether MPL in the Philippines for next season will carry a franchise or not. However, there is a possibility that this discourse will be reworked after MSC 2021 ends.
