One of the prestigious sports events that will compete in esports in the near future is the 2021 SEA Games which will be held in Hanoi, Vietnam. In order to prepare resources that will compete and are ready to get the best achievements, the Indonesian Esports Executive Board (PBESI) as the organization that accommodates all esports activities in Indonesia held a National Training Center (Pelatnas) for the 2021 SEA Games under the direction of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI). ).
Pelatnas will be held from March 1 to April 30, 2022 and will be a place for concentration, strategy testing, as well as an opportunity for coaches and athletes who have passed the selection and have been selected to contribute to the country through the best achievements. Previously, PBESI had formed a Selection Team whose task was to prepare the selection process which took place since December 2021.
In their duties, the Selection Team has collected the track records and achievements of national esports athletes, as well as held open qualifications and national championships to screen the best athletes in each of the games being competed.
This process involved four selection pathways, namely the PON route, the invitation route, the National Championship (Kejurnas) route, as well as the choice of coaches, and recruited more than 120 athletes and 10 coaches for all competition numbers. The selected athletes and coaches will undergo a physical and mental examination first before being put in quarantine for an intensive training program covering technical, physical, psychological, mental abilities, strategy, analysis, and nutrition.
The National Training Program will be divided into 2 stages. The first stage will take place from March 1-10, 2022. The focus of the first stage of National Training is to train and select all members of the 2021 SEA Games contingent. The second stage of National Training will be held from March 11 to April 30, 2022 and will focus on training the athletes who are declared selected for the competition. departed for the 2021 SEA Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Before departing in May 2022, coaches and athletes will take part in the finalization stage in the form of sparring and final preparation. There will be 66 athletes who will be dispatched for all competition categories, so the total contingent for the 2021 SEA Games will be 76 people including the coach.
